Simplification of assembly process of thermal components using SiC-based composite.

Traditionally, multi-material thermal management parts, particularly ceramic packages are manufactured in multistage processes. Often, these manufacturing processes consist of many costly and time-consuming stages. Addressing this issue, FACT Industries is using selective laser melting of SiC-based composite technology for direct assembly of complex parts which significantly simplifies the procedure of the manufacturing.
In FACT Industries we are continuously working on optimization of processes. One of the key achievements is a developed feedstock product under our project 'FACT Therm' activities. This product well suited for applications in powder bed AM. Using this valuable property we proposed to fabricate multi-material packages in two stages by powder bed AM technology; (i) AM of layered non-conductive and conductive materials without interrupting the process, (ii) post-processing, including heat treatment and polishing of manufactured parts.
